The site, run by leading waste resource management company Veolia as part of its Household Waste Management Services contract with Telford & Wrekin Council, has a dedicated area for items that can be reused by others through the work of the charity. Donations can come in all shapes and sizes and those dropped off already have included pans, crockery, cutlery and curtains.

Telford Crisis Support (TCS) is an independent, volunteer-led charity providing a wide range of related support services for individuals and families across the borough. Alongside their core foodbank service, TCS runs a baby and toddler bank and a school uniform pre-loved scheme, as well as offering help with home energy, re-homing, and support for bed poverty community projects.

Thanks to the new initiative with Veolia and Telford & Wrekin Council, TCS can support people needing key home items. Residents bringing waste and recycling to the site are encouraged to speak to staff if they are dropping off something that could be reused by the charity.

Simon Lellow, Operations Manager for Telford Crisis Support said: 

“We're really pleased to be working with Veolia and Telford & Wrekin Council to divert items from waste to instead be reused by our clients. Having access to crockery, cookware and homeware is a massive help to people who otherwise wouldn't be able to get them, it helps people start on the front foot, with the best chance of moving out of crisis. As an organisation we are keen to make a difference not only to the people we help but to our local environment too and working together with partners is an effective way of meeting this aim.”
