Free ‘urban games’ sports sessions during Easter holidays

With help from AFC Telford United, Shropshire Cricket and Telford Bike Hub, Telford & Wrekin Council has organised the activity sessions following people’s feedback about providing affordable, local activities for young people during the holidays.

A spokesperson from the Safer & Stronger Communities teams aid: “Now that the weather is hopefully getting better, the outdoor sessions can start again – a place where young people can either hang out with their friends or take part in the organised activities – all for free.

“The sessions are run by qualified staff, there is no need to book, just grab a friend and bring a drink.”

The sessions have been organised through the Safer & Stronger Communities project which aims to tackle concerns around neighbourhood safety. It also provides longer term solutions for community spirit and cohesion through social groups and activities.

Leading the investment with £2m, the council is working in partnership with the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) John Campion who is providing a further £500k.

There’s no need to book, just visit the website at www.Telford.gov.uk/urbangames or download the flyer here.
