Rail Strike Action

Commuters in Telford and Wrekin are being urged to check before any rail travel on Wednesday, July 27 due to strike action by the Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) union and ASLEF - Britain's trade union for train drivers.

Rail Strike Action

The following dates will be subject to the strike and affect commuters travelling from Telford Central.


Wednesday, July 27 – Strike by RMT

No services will run between Shrewsbury and Wolverhampton.

Limited West Midlands Railway (WMR) services will run between Wolverhampton and Birmingham between 07:30 and 18:30


Thursday, July 28  

Disruptions to morning services as rail services return to normal


Saturday, July 30 – Strike by ASLEF

No West Midlands Railway (WMR) services will run between Shrewsbury and Birmingham

Transport for Wales will run its service as normal


People travelling to Commonwealth Games events are advised to check the Common Wealth Games’ and train operating company’s websites.

Contingency plans are being put in place.
