AO Recycling, based at Halesfield 15, Telford has received The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Gold Award for demonstrating high health and safety standards.
It is the latest in a string of accolades for AO Recycling, including WEELABEX certification from the WEELABEX organisation which has a set of standards for the collection, transport and recycling of e-waste.
AO is now one of the UK’s biggest recyclers of fridges and also aims to be one of the UK’s most efficient recyclers of Major Domestic Appliances (MDA).
The expanding business has been supported by the council’s business support team, ‘Enterprise Telford’ as it set up its recycling plant in 2017 and plastics plant in 2019.
Enterprise Telford supports a wide range of businesses in Telford and Wrekin – offering them fast, responsive and bespoke solutions to help them achieve their business goals.
Rob Sant, AO Recycling Managing Director, said: “The council’s Enterprise Telford team have been fully supportive of AO Recycling as we set up both our main recycling plant (incorporating fridges, large white goods, packaging and reuse) and the plastics recycling plant in Telford.

“We’re delighted to have been awarded RoSPA’s Gold Award for our high health and safety standards.
“Our people are at the forefront of everything we do, so we always strive to make sure our plant has all the correct practices in place to keep them safe at work.”
AO Recycling has received RoSPA’s Gold Award for five consecutive years leading to a coveted gold medal recognising efforts to ensure staff at the plant get home safely to their families at the end of every working day.
Councillor Lee Carter (Lab), Telford & Wrekin Council’s Cabinet Member for Neighbourhood Services, Regeneration and the High Street, said: “Our Enterprise Telford team supports lots of local businesses, helping them to access additional funding and support which can help with their growth and progression as well as offering them business advice and expertise.
