Job Box will highlight ongoing support during National Careers Week 2022

The week, which runs from March 7-12, is a national celebration of careers guidance and free resources in education across the UK.

National Careers Week targets people of all ages, encouraging them to explore different career pathways that match their interests.

The council’s Life Ready Work Ready programme, part of the wider Job Box service, helps young people prepare for their adult working lives and brings employers, schools and colleges together to equip young people for employment opportunities in the borough.

In addition, Job Box can help people of all ages with their career planning and support them with their next steps such as CV writing, job applications and communication skills.

Telford & Wrekin Council’s FutureFocus is a free careers guidance support service which offers specialist help to young people with their career planning, including providing knowledge of local providers’ post 16 offer, support with course, job and apprenticeship applications, communication skills and much more.

During National Careers Week, Job Box is offering a series of drop-in sessions and resources which can support people with their career journey.

There will be daily focuses on different career sectors including hospitality, business & professional, health & social care, construction and engineering and manufacturing which highlight career opportunities in these areas.

Councillor Eileen Callear (Lab), Telford & Wrekin Council’s Cabinet Member for Visitor Economy, Employment and Skills said: “National Careers Week is a celebration of careers guidance which is widely recognised across the UK.

“Not only does the week focus on the careers support which is available for young people as they leave education, it’s also a platform to promote the help for people of all ages who have faced career challenges or are looking for a change of direction.”

Telford & Wrekin Council has teamed up with local businesses, colleges and organisations to provide more information about career opportunities locally.

Eileen added: “We are delighted to support this week of activity and signpost people to the wide range of careers support and resources that our Life Ready Work Ready, Future Focus and Job Box services deliver.

“We are proud to offer this support and help people across Telford and Wrekin with their career journey, whatever stage it’s at.”
