Neighbourhood Whereabouts - up to November 16
🏠 As the clocks change and we settle indoors, the work our teams do to keep Telford and Wrekin cleaner, greener and a more enjoyable place to live carries on regardless.
🌡️ While the work rate never slows down, the type of work carried out is always changing and with the onset of colder temperatures our thoughts turn to snow and ice and our helpful army of snow wardens.
Here’s a roundup of what our crews are up over the next two weeks and lots of useful links to help us quickly fix problems that pop up from time to time. 👍
Snow Wardens We are looking for NEW volunteer Snow Wardens to help keep footpaths in neighbourhoods clear of snow and ice – clearing footpaths can be a lifeline to those who are unable to clear the areas for themselves. Or, click this link to find out more about volunteering opportunities.
Carriageway Resurfacing Resurfacing works will be taking place on The Rock, Ketley; Alma Avenue, Malinslee; Orchard Close, Waters Upton & Manor Road, Hadley. Works will also be commencing on Admaston Road, Wellington. More information about this resurfacing scheme can be found here.

Footpaths Extensive resurfacing projects continue in Sutton Hill with civil works completed in Shakespeare Way, Smallwood and crews currently working in Southgate and Summerhill. They are expected to move onto Sunnymead and continue to work there until November 16. All civil/ drainage works in this area and general street upgrades are expected to be completed by mid-December and micro surfacing works are expected to begin in February 2022.
Crews have been working in Blakemoore, Brookside and are now in Brereton and work here is due to complete by December 14.
Finally, work has begun in Cordingley Way in Donnington where a footpath outside a row of homes where mobility scooters are frequently used is being re-laid, making a big difference to the ease of access for residents.

Drains We’re constantly checking the 30 thousand (give or take!) roadside drains – or gullies as they are technically known – are ready for rain that might head our way.
We’ve just got a whole lot smarter too about how we keep them free of silt and debris with two years of surveys and a new exciting programme to manage it all.
Instead of a regular programme of cleaning, we’re now more effective at keeping gullies clean and preventing water build up by identifying hot spot areas – all part of our plan to protect, care and invest to create a better borough.
Gritting We’re monitoring forecasts 24/7 and are ready to respond - the grit bins are topped up across the borough and practice runs are now finished. Keep an eye
Potholes Crews are filling potholes that have been reported to us.
Street lighting As the nights draw in, please help us repair any damaged lighting columns or faulty streetlights. Please report any that you spot here.
