Lawn Tennis Association Visit to Telford Tennis Centre
Telford and Wrekin Council Leisure Services team were delighted to welcome David Rawlinson, President, Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) along with Bob Kerr, Lawn Tennis Association Councillor, Tennis Shropshire on a recent visit to Telford Tennis Centre.
The event was part of a regional tour by Mr Rawlinson and his team to see first-hand the work that has been going on to ensure tennis remains a viable and covid-safe option for people to participate in since easing of covid restrictions allowed the sport to be opened up.
“This was an opportunity for key members from Lawn Tennis Association to meet volunteers and staff to discuss not only the fantastic work that is going on right now but also future initiatives to ensure all members of the community feel that they can access tennis. Whilst at the centre our visitors saw up to 50 local children participating in a tennis session provided by We Do Tennis who offer a comprehensive coaching and lesson programme at the centre “ said Cllr Eileen Callear, Cabinet Member for Leisure, Culture and Visitor Economy
The management of Telford Tennis Centre returned to Telford & Wrekin Council Leisure Services in April this year and the team were able to re-open the centre on 1 June. The centre is currently running a special offer during the simmer with all indoor courts available for just £10 and outdoor courts for £5.
