Tell us what you love about Bowring Park

The ongoing pandemic has shown us how much we all value our local parks and green spaces.

Tell us what you love about Bowring Park

For many people, the pandemic has brought a new appreciation of green spaces and nature and the benefits to quality of life and wellbeing.

Telford & Wrekin Council is committed to a cleaner, greener future and determined to work with local councils, friends groups and conservation volunteers to make local parks and green spaces as good as they can be.

Bowring Park is one of the spaces the council and its local partners are looking to improve and they are keen to hear the views of locals.

Over the next four weeks, people will be asked to take part in an online survey to say what they like about Bowring Park, what is important to them and how they think the space can be improved to make it better for all to enjoy.

The feedback will help the partners refresh the park’s Management Plan and update the actions in order to meet the needs of park users now and in the future. As well as people’s views, the refreshed plan will take account of park heritage, recreational offer, biodiversity and available resources.

Cllr Carolyn Healy, Telford & Wrekin Council cabinet member for the natural environment, said: “Throughout history parks have evolved and adapted to social and economic changes, but their importance to people’s quality of life hasn’t changed. Their contribution to the sustainability of our urban centres is increasingly recognised though.

“We want to provide beautiful spaces for people to exercise and relax and also to boost their ecological diversity. There are many volunteers who help us care for Bowring Park and, like us, they have ideas and ambitions to make the space even better. If you visit the park, we are really keen to hear your views and ideas too.”

The council is also hoping to add Bowring Park to its tally of prestigious Green Flags this year.

Cllr Healy added: “Green Flag Awards recognise and celebrate the most beautiful, well-managed parks in the country. We managed a hat-trick last year, with Green Flags for Telford Town Park, Dawley Park and Hartshill Park. It would be great to see another flying high at Bowring Park.”

Have our say about Bowring Park here.

The survey runs until 14 March 2021. If you are unable to access the survey online please telephone 01952 384384 and the council will send you a paper copy and a FREEPOST return envelope.
