Hope in sight for Randlay Centre redevelopment
New owners drive regeneration plans forward
Whilst the former owners of Randlay Centre successfully delivered a scheme which welcomed new shops and a community centre which is owned by the Council. The original plans submitted by the private developer had the ambition to fully regenerate Randlay Centre which included plans for private care home and apartment scheme. Unfortunately the scheme did not progress due to a loss of their operating care provider.
Now under new ownership the new developer has successfully updated the internal plans for the care home scheme, which will enable them to deliver the 72 bed care home to modern requirements.
Following continual engagement, Telford & Wrekin Council can see progress is being made in respect of the scheme, with plans to bring the development forward from Spring 2021.
Councillor David Wright Cabinet Member for Economy, Housing, Transport & Infrastructure said,
“The Randlay site is a key priority for us as a council and our ward members to in terms of addressing this vacant site which has been a blot on the landscape, it will be great to see the hoarding updated and works starting on site later this year. This news comes off the back of the recent announcement that the former Grange Park primary school site is being brought forward by Bromford housing association to deliver 48 new homes shortly after the recent grant of planning permission.”
