Council shortlisted for HR Impact Award
Telford & Wrekin Council has been shortlisted for the HR Impact Award of the Personnel Today Awards 2020.
The Personnel Today Awards received entries from organisations from across the country who are involved in delivering excellence in people management, firms of consultants and suppliers and agencies in both the public and private sectors.
The Council’s Human Resources team’s submission related to operating a task force to quickly redirect existing resources to front line provision. This included providing additional services such as free school meal deliveries and contacting residents who were shielding or vulnerable. The service responded to the early and immediate needs or residents and was delivered over and above what the government required of local authorities at the start of the pandemic.
The entry submission provided details coverings the challenge, the solution and the benefits to the organisation.
They demonstrated their strengths using five criteria:
•innovation and achievement
•teamwork
•leadership
•effective use of resources and
•HR’s contribution to the business.
The winner of the award will be announced via an online awards ceremony Thursday 26 November.
Councillor Rae Evans Cabinet Member for Council Finance and Governance said: “I am absolutely delighted that we have been shortlisted for this prestigious award.
“We aim to be an employer of choice and so it’s great that our HR team is recognised for delivering organisational excellence, especially in recent times. With the floods earlier in the year and the coronavirus pandemic the team have shown resilience and absolute commitment to supporting the Council and our residents.”
