Pupils share positivity on returning to schools

Pupils from borough schools expressed how their particular school has changed upon returning which have introduced a number measures to keep them safe.

Such measures include regular washing of hands, dedicated hand sanitising stations, using a one way system throughout school premises, staggered start and finish times and classroom bubbles.

Attendance of state funded borough schools is at 88%, which is in line with national figures.

Councillor Shirley Reynolds Cabinet Member for Children, Young People, Education and Lifelong Learning said: “We have been delighted to support schools wherever possible with returning to schools.

“Our schools have achieved a fantastic attendance rate for the start of term. Schools across the borough should be very proud of their efforts to ensure pupils could return to school as safely as possible.

“I would like to thank all our school staff who I know have worked very hard to ensure our children have had a safe and happy return to school.
