Nurseries stay open thanks to bread donations
Local businesses and hotels have rallied round to help support nurseries in the borough by donating loaves of bread. Nurseries across the borough were in short supply of bread and it was becoming difficult to source.
With the support of West Mercia Police, local hotels and businesses, nurseries will now be able to feed vulnerable children and children of key workers attending breakfast clubs.
Cllr Shirley Reynolds Cabinet Member for Children, Young People, Education and Life Long Learning said: “The support from local businesses and hotels has been overwhelming during these uncertain times. It is fantastic that they want to support nurseries as this also helps our key workers.
“In times like these local support helps each and every child when they need it the most. I would also like to thank West Mercia Police for coordinating this operation making this possible.”
Cllr Carolyn Healy Cabinet Member for Visitor Economy said: “It is so pleasing to see local businesses all pulling together supporting local residents. Without this support it would not be possible to feed these children resulting in nurseries closing. This would also have a knock on effect where key workers would not be able to go to work.”
