Council delivers food parcels to vulnerable residents
Telford & Wrekin Council started delivery of food parcels to residents as part of the Government scheme to help the most vulnerable today.
It was felt the parcels would benefit with a little extra, so they were supplemented. Some of the supplemented items included tea, coffee, jam, tinned food, butter and eggs.
These food parcels are being delivered to 66 residents in the borough who have been identified by the government as the most vulnerable with no support system in place.
Around 36 have been delivered already with the others to follow to soon after this week.
Those who will receive these parcels will have already been contacted by the Government, not the Council. If you have not received your food parcel yet, then please don’t worry parcels will get to those when more supplies and details have been received from Government.
If you are a vulnerable person who is self-isolating and have no one to support you and need help, please complete our form or call the helpline on 01952 382030 .
Cllr Shaun Davies, Council Leader, said; “We have mobilised a team to package and deliver these food parcels from the Government.
“We have also looked at what we sent to deliver to this most vulnerable group were getting and the Council has decided to supplement this with some other items to help keep these people safe and supplied in their own homes for as long as possible.”
