Child Exploitation Awareness Day 2020

Wednesday 18 March 2020 marks national Child Exploitation Awareness Day 2020.

Child Exploitation Awareness Day 2020

The national campaign aims to highlight issues surrounding ‘Child Exploitation; encouraging everyone to think, spot and speak out against abuse’.

Telford and Wrekin’s Safeguarding Partnership will be raising awareness of the signs, symptoms and also what to do if people have concerns.

The council will also be supporting the Independent Inquiry Telford Child Sexual Exploitation in their appeal for victims, witnesses and anyone who has information which could be relevant to the inquiry.

Councillor Lee Carter, Telford & Wrekin Council cabinet lead, said: “Keeping children and young people safe from harm is the most important thing Telford & Wrekin Council does. This national campaign is another opportunity for us to promote the work that is being done with partners on a local level to tackle this horrendous crime.”

“I’d also like to take the opportunity to continue to urge anyone who has information which could support the Independent Inquiry Telford Child Sexual Exploitation to come forward and contact the inquiry. The inquiry has made significant steps forward in recent months and continues to work closely with victims and survivors - for more information please should the Independent Inquiry website: www.iitcse.com.”
