Funding support request forms

In recent days, we’ve been bowled over by people’s generosity and the offers of help and support for those in the Ironbridge Gorge who’ve been flooded.

If you’re one of those directly affected by the floods you can now complete a form for financial help from money raised publicly.

Forms can be downloaded at www.telford.gov.uk/floodrecovery

The Council will then pass any further requests on to organisers of two fundraising pages set up by Ironbridge Lions and Ironbridge Rotary Club to support residents of the Gorge. Anyone can donate to these funds which aim to raise over £50,000.

They also aim to help those who have been unable to move back into their homes to do so as quickly as possible and help others affected to improve their own flood defences and resilience.

Cllr Carolyn Healy, cabinet member with responsibility for the Ironbridge Gorge, said: “These are in addition to any claim made to the Council through schemes it is administering and which residents have already been written to about.

“These two groups will then review these requests and allocate funds they collect to residents who’ve been flooded and requested support this way.

“This could help with the costs of things such as replacement furniture or white goods for example.

“We’re also getting lots of other offers of help for people who’ve been in the Gorge.

If you’ve a specific offer of help or support, this can be posted here or if you prefer email your offer to cpt@telford.gov.uk. We will then try to match any offers up with flood-hit residents and businesses’ needs.”

Thanks to everyone for their support.
