The National Road Safety Conference, the Road Safety GB’s flagship annual event, takes place for the first time in Telford, at the International Centre on 12-13 November. Telford & Wrekin Council’s Road Safety team is part of the event’s planning team, helping to welcome delegates and supporting the event across the two days.

In addition, the Council’s Road Safety team will be showcasing how Telford & Wrekin’s team successfully gets its road safety messages into schools, as a case study for other authorities and delegates.

The National Road Safety Conference 2019 is sponsored by DENSO, a leading supplier of advanced automotive technology, systems and components for all the world's major automakers, with more than 1,000 employees based in Telford.

DENSO, together with Telford & Wrekin Council supports a number of local traffic safety educational activities, carried out by employees for the community and local schools.

Alan Kennedy, executive director of Road Safety GB, said: “We are delighted that our National Road Safety Conference is being held in Telford, a borough recognised as a leading example of road safety initiatives and education continuously being carried out in local schools.

“It’s also great to see DENSO’s involvement, a business that is actively involved in local road safety initiatives for a safer future, with fewer accidents.”

Angie Astley, Assistant Director Customer & Neighbourhood Services at Telford & Wrekin Council said: “We are excited that the National Road Safety Conference is being held for the first time in Telford, at the International Centre.

“This national event takes place just one week before the National Road Safety week – all this underlines our commitment for safer streets, less accidents and increasing awareness on the part we all need to play to make these happen.”
