Armed Forces Day Fun
A local celebration to pay tribute to the work of the Armed Forces will be held in Telford Town Park next month.
Telford’s ‘Armed Forces Fun Day’ will take place on Saturday 29 June, 11am until 5pm in Telford Town Park.
The event is being organised to mark Armed Forces Day 2019 which is the annual national campaign that gives everyone the opportunity to show their support for past and present military personnel including currently serving troops and their families, reservists, veterans and cadets.
The line-up is set to celebrate our armed forces community with special military vehicle displays and group shows from local forces reserve units, cadets and regular forces from all three services (Army, Navy and the Royal Air force).
There will be all of the usual family fun including circus skills workshops, Have-a-go archery and tennis, a music and entertainment stage, funfair, inflatables, craft stalls, food, drink and much more.
Special offers and discounts will be available at all stalls for anyone with proof of service either current or veteran.
Building on the success of last years “Carnival of Giants” this is another opportunity for our communities to come together in a relaxed family atmosphere and pay tribute to those who serve and have served our country from all cultures and backgrounds.
Councillor Raj Mehta, Cabinet Member for Communities and Inclusivity said: “We’re delighted to be able to hold this event to show our appreciation of our local Armed Forces communities and their families. This event is a great way for everyone to come along, show their support and also have a great day out with their own family and friends.”
Councillor Chris Turley, lead on the Armed Forces Covenant for the borough, commented: “Our Armed Forces families here in the borough are a huge part of our town. We are delighted to be hosting this event which is a great celebratory occasion to say thank you to the servicemen and women who are committed to protecting our country, and also to their families who support them throughout their service.”
