Council extends free swimming for U18's and over 50's £1 swim

It's no April Fools that from today borough residents aged under 18 can swim for free at any council owned pools and those over 50 can swim for just £1.

Council extends free swimming for U18's and over 50's £1 swim

The incentive is one of a number introduced to help improve the health of people in the borough.

With a free residents’ Telford Loyalty Card, the free swimming offer for under 18s is now available across all four Telford and Wrekin Leisure swimming pools at Wellington Civic and Leisure Centre, Oakengates Leisure Centre, Newport Swimming Pool and Abraham Darby Sports and Leisure Centre.

Equally, those aged 50 and over will just need their residents’ TLC card to dive in for a swim for just £1.

The free and reduced cost swimming offers are part of a series of new one off investments totalling £3.6m, made possible following changes to the council’s finances including a one off VAT refund.
