Even if you’re away, have your say on 2 May

On Thursday 2 May, voters in Telford and Wrekin will have their say on who represents them on the borough council and on their town or parish council.

Even if you’re away, have your say on 2 May

What happens in local government affects lives in the borough more often than we realise.

But if you’re not in the borough on 2 May, why not apply for a postal vote?

If you’re away on business, on holiday or just have other commitments that mean you can’t get to your polling station between 7am and 10pm on 2 May, there’s no reason you have to miss out on having your say on who represents you.

Almost one in three of voters in the borough have already choose to vote by post.

If you haven’t yet applied for a postal vote, you have until 15 April to do so.

A postal vote is very easy to arrange. Anyone wishing to apply to vote by post can do so here.

Applications for a postal vote must be received at the elections office by 5pm on Monday 15 April.

Returning Officer, Richard Partington, said: “It’s really quick and straightforward to apply for a postal vote.

“There’s nothing to stop anyone in the borough from having their say in the local elections in the borough on 2 May.”

More people than ever are already registered to vote in this year’s elections. However if you’re not registered to vote, you have until 12 April to ensure you’re able to take part in May’s elections.

Anyone who has not registered to vote in the borough can do it at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.  For anyone without internet access please call 01952 383206 and your details will be taken over the phone.
