Award Winning Sister Act Ensure Things Turn Ugly in Oakengates

Following last year’s record-breaking production of Peter Pan, Oakengates Theatre @ The Place, Telford is set to raise the curtain on a brilliant new production of the most magical tale of them all, Cinderella.

Award Winning Sister Act Ensure Things Turn Ugly in Oakengates

Oakengates Theatre @ The Place in partnership with Shone Productions brings an all-star cast to town, with all the traditional trimmings – poor misused Cinders, a dashing Prince Charming, magical Fairy Godmother and loyal and loveable Buttons.

But, the biggest laughs will be for the new production’s lauded Ugly Sisters. Flushed after their title as ‘Best Ugly Sisters’ in the 2017 Great British Pantomime awards, the hilarious Oliver Gray and Dean Horner arrive in Oakengates as the flamboyant and outrageous duo, Lav & Lou.

EastEnders heart-throb Tony Discipline, who thrilled millions as Tyler Moon and won the TV Choice ‘Best Newcomer Award’ heads up the rest of the spectacular cast as Prince Charming alongside 90’s pop sensation Anna ‘Lolly’ Kumble as the Fairy Godmother and introducing Isabel Gamble as Cinderella.

With Joe Chambers swapping his role in Cbeebies ‘Rhyme Rockets’ for the breeches and waistcoat of Dandini and comedy star Carl Dutfield as Buttons, the stage is set for an uproarious pageant of festive family fun.
This year’s production brings a star-studded end to the 50th Anniversary of Oakengates Theatre, which, in the last year has welcomed some 65,000 people through its doors.

During a half-century of trailblazing programming, the theatre has seen performances from singing, comedy and acting legends including; the late Ken Dodd, Michael McIntyre, Russell Watson, Des O’Connor, Lee Evans and the legendary and much missed, Victoria Wood.

Audiences can look forward to another 50 years of huge acts starting in 2019 which sees on-trend comedian Nish Kumar, Strictly Come Dancing’s Giovanni Pernice, country legend Charlie Landsborough in his farewell tour, family favourite shows The Wizard of Oz and Aliens Love Underpants and cult U.S. comedian Reginald D Hunter all gracing the stage.

Cinderella opens with a sold out show at Oakengates Theatre @ The Place on Tuesday 11 December 2018 and runs until Sunday 6 January 2019.
