"Worthwhile" meeting with Telford MP
A senior Telford & Wrekin Council cabinet member said today that he had held a “worthwhile” meeting with MP Lucy Allan.
Councillor Lee Carter, council director Clive Jones and assistant director Jonathan Eatough – who is overseeing the commissioning of the inquiry - met with the MP at her constituency office in Telford.
Subjects that were discussed included the inquiry into child sexual exploitation in the borough, how the council can work with MP on securing government funding and the long term commitment to funding of the Holly Project.
Councillor Lee Carter said after the meeting: “This was a worthwhile meeting on the Inquiry and about how we can potentially work together on a range of related issues including securing government funding.
“There is no doubt that we are both passionate about ensuring the Independent Inquiry is done thoroughly but without unnecessary delay. I found it to be a helpful first step and hope we can continue to have ongoing dialogue.
Lucy Allan MP said ““I was pleased to meet with Cllr Lee Carter to discuss Telford’s CSE inquiry. I will continue to keep a watchful eye on progress in setting up this inquiry and ensure that survivors, their families and the wider community get the answers they seek.”
