Switch & save £££s this autumn with switch.telford.gov.uk
As summer turns to autumn, the Council is encouraging anyone to log on to www.switch.telford.gov.uk to switch their gas and energy provider - to benefit from a cheaper deal before winter comes.
With many energy providers (such as EDF, British Gas, Npower) recently announcing price increases and with more energy being used in households during the colder months, many people can expect higher bills, if they don’t switch earlier to a better deal on gas and electricity.
Telford & Wrekin Council operates its own energy price comparison and switching website, www.switch.telford.gov.uk - in partnership with Ofgem-accredited UK Power, to make it easier for anyone to save money on their energy bills.
Switching to a new supplier and a better deal is helping customers save on average over £200 a year with Switch Telford.
Savings as high as £650 a year have been achieved through www.switch.telford.gov.uk/ .
Anyone using this service can see in one place, FREE of charge, all the gas and electricity deals on the market in real time and can switch supplier easily, in as little as five minutes.
When making the switch, they don’t even have to contact their old supplier or change any direct debits, as Switch Telford does this for them.
Councillor Lee Carter, Cabinet member for Council Finance, Partnerships & Commercial Services said: “With the colder weather coming, we want to encourage people to switch their gas and energy provider through our service as early as possible so as to make considerable savings.
“Our own energy price comparison and switching site, www.switch.telford.gov.uk has proven a real success, with more than 800 switches recorded and savings even up to £650/year.
“In addition to this, switching through Switch Telford (compared to other sites) helps generate funds for Council and this helps us invest in improving services for Telford and Wrekin residents.”
The Energy Switching site builds on the Council’s work to help people from the Borough save money. The Telford Loyalty Card (TLC) is another way the Council helps residents to save money and offers discounts at hundreds of borough businesses.
Businesses can sign up for free and are encouraged to change their offers frequently.
