Fairy tale wishes came true this weekend at Telford Ice Rink

Once Upon a Telford Time, a first time event hosted by Telford Ice Rink on the 18 and 19 August proved to be a huge success.

Fairy tale wishes came true this weekend at Telford Ice Rink

Families were able to enjoy Telford Ice Rink exclusively at the weekend, as they entered into an enchanted fairy tale and were greeted by princesses and princes. Ticket prices included access into both soft play and the rink, giving customers the freedom to choose which activities they’d like to complete first.

As children’s faces lit up with excitement in awe of each princess and prince, this continued during their magical performances that brought the popular storytelling to life with song and dance.

Once Upon a Telford Time incorporated entry into soft play and the rink, craft making, storytelling and sing along, making an enchanted wish on the wishing tree, painting on the ice, skating and face painting. With plenty to do within the three hour sessions, children moved freely between each activity and even took part in several party games such as musical statues.

Families really embraced the fairy tale theme, with children attending the event in full fancy dress, princess and prince outfits. Prizes were given out by the Telford Ice Rink team for the best efforts over the weekend.

Further new concepts introduced at the weekend featured a “safe zone” on the ice. A separate area of the ice was segregated with a barrier, this created a skate free zone where parents and children could enter wearing their normal shoes. Enabling families to paint on the ice at ease without the added difficulty of skating, not to mention the artistic designs that were created on the ice across the weekend.

Once Upon a Telford Time aimed to present children with a little magic into their summer, both on and off the ice. Councillor John Minor, Cabinet Member for Leisure, Green Spaces and Parks, said “We really hope everyone had a memorable experience at Telford Ice Rink this weekend, and look forward to seeing many customers return. This summer is just the beginning, as we look to constantly improve the event offering and skating experience at the rink.”
