Balloon & Kite Fiesta success
The free Balloon and Kite Festival in Telford Town Park at the weekend, one of the major events as part of Telford’s 50th anniversary celebrations this year, attracted around 30,000 people over its two days.
Following its success, the Council will look into whether it can host the event again next year and has been talking with balloonists, many of whom are hobbyists and enthusiasts, and other partners about this.
Councillor Shaun Davies, council leader, said: “It was a fabulous event attracting 30,000 people to Telford Town Park.
“It helped to showcase some of the best that this borough has to offer as well as attracting visitors from far and wide.
“The overwhelming feedback is that people had a great weekend and loved the event which brought people together and has created a real feel-good factor in the borough.
“The atmosphere in the Arena on Saturday night in front of packed crowd was incredible and such a great way to get so many people involved in our Telford 50 celebrations, with many more events planned over the next few months.
“I cannot thank enough our staff, volunteers and partners who have made it all possible and such a memorable weekend for many thousands of people.
“We’ll be looking very closely at whether we can make this a more regular feature of our annual events and help bring even more visitors to Telford to see what we have to offer.”
