#GiftABundle launches nationally on Monday 12 February and parents in Telford will be able to gift a bundle of their children’s outgrown, good quality clothing via community centres in the borough.  It celebrates parenthood, connects the community, helps families save money and reduces waste.
 
According to Hubbub, a whopping 183 million items of outgrown baby clothing are stashed in UK homes, enough to provide over 250 items for each baby born in the UK each year. 
 
Councillor Arnold England, Telford & Wrekin Council cabinet member for communities, health and wellbeing, said: “Donating outgrown baby clothing is a great way of extending the life of baby clothing by passing them on as gifts to other families to help them save money.  Many people already pass on clothes, but the Mother’s Day link of this campaign is a nice opportunity to raise awareness of how donating clothes reduces textile waste and helps others.”
 
Anyone wanting to gift a bundle is asked to drop off their donations between 12 February to 11 March at Park Lane, Brookside, Sutton Hill and Donnington community centres.  Empty bundle gift bags will also be available at these locations for people to take home and fill.  Donations will then be sorted and redistributed to families.
