Could you be a Telford 50 GEM?
Could you be part of the volunteer team to help make Telford 50 events happen? If yes, come to our GEM drop-in session at Oakengates Theatre, on 31 January, anytime between 3pm-7pm
Volunteers for Telford 50 are called GEMs (Golden Event Makers) and as many as possible are required to make Telford 50 extra-special!
If you feel proud about your borough and its communities, want to have fun and help make a spectacular 50th anniversary programme happen with like-minded people – come and join the Golden Event Makers team! The amount of time you can commit to a GEM role is entirely up to you.
A GEM drop-in session will take place at Oakengates Theatre on 31 January, 3pm to 7 pm.
Anyone is welcome to come to find out more about the GEM roles and apply to become a GEM.
People who have previously registered for a GEM role will also be directly invited to the drop-in session for a full sign-up process that will include hand out of the GEM volunteer book.
All participants can also find out more about personal development opportunities the GEM role could bring in their chosen role.
There will be also be an update on the latest Telford 50 events and activities planned for this year.
Some of the key roles GEMs will help cover include Customer Support, Event Stewards, Marketing & Evaluation, Technical Support & Event Photographer.
Training packages, out-of-pocket expenses, standard references on request are among some of the benefits GEMs will enjoy.
Additionally, a Customer Care award will be on offer to a number of GEM volunteers who attend at least two events during 2018.

Anyone age 16 or over, with suitable skills, can apply to join the GEMs team.
Cllr Rae Evans, Cabinet Member for Customer Services, Tourism & Partnerships, said: “We currently have more than 100 people who want to be a GEM for Telford 50.
People are really eager to get involved.
“We hope the GEM drop-in session on 31 Jan will attract even more interest, with everything you need to know about becoming a GEM and about the exciting Telford 50 events planned.
“We will be providing the volunteers with a wealth of support including training and ongoing assistance, so that they can develop their skills in chosen areas and benefit from them even after the anniversary.
“I am sure lots of people, like me, will be interested in becoming GEMs (Golden Event Makers).”
