Refuse/recycling collections update, Wednesday 13 December

Collection crews are back on the roads and working hard to catch up on missed collections due to the bad weather. Extra crews have been drafted in to catch up on missed collections and crews will be working on Saturday. There may be a knock-on effect to collections for the rest of this week – though the advice is to put containers out as normal.

Refuse/recycling collections update, Wednesday 13 December

Some side streets are still very icy, and so truck drivers will be taking a decision on whether it is safe to enter on a road by road basis – the decision will take account of parked cars, pedestrian safety as well as the safety of the crews.  Therefore please don’t worry if bins in your street haven’t been collected, but the street down the road has – they will get to you when it is safe to do so.

The advice to all residents (those who have had a missed collection and those whose collections are due today, Thursday and Friday) remains the same:

  • Please put containers due to be collected out on your usual collection day
  • If crews don’t manage to collect on your scheduled day, please leave your red top bin, purple top bin and your blue bag out in a safe place and they will be collected as soon as possible
  • If your green bin isn’t collected, please take it back in and put it out on your next scheduled collection date
  • Pre-arranged assisted collections will also be undertaken by the crews where possible.
