Weather update Sunday 10 Dec 6.30pm

Our gritting teams have been working round the clock to try to keep main routes as clear as possible.

Weather update Sunday 10 Dec 6.30pm

They’re going out again at 6pm and at 10pm on Sunday, while overnight teams will be working to clear council owned car parks and paths in key borough towns. Check which routes we grit.

However, temperatures are forecast to drop well below freezing overnight, and advice from police remains to only travel if necessary and take extra care if you are on the roads.
Also please think if there’s any older or vulnerable person who lives close to you who may need help if they can’t get out.

School closures

Most schools have already made the decision to close tomorrow because of the snow. Schools we know are closed.

Rubbish and recycling collections
Some rubbish and recycling collections may not happen as usual tomorrow because of the snow. If your collection isn’t collected, please leave your red top and purple top bins out in a safe place and they will be collected as soon as possible.
Please take your green bin and blue bag back in and put them out on your next scheduled collection date, with any additional bags and boxes of recyclables.
Here are full details of our bad weather procedures.

Council services tomorrow
All day centres will be closed tomorrow and no Wrekin Rider, Community Buses, Dial-a-Ride and Age UK bus services are cancelled tomorrow.
Some services will open a little later than normal tomorrow, for example leisure centres will not open until 9am and other main council buildings until 9.30am. The Leisure centres at the Phoenix and Stirchley schools are closed as these schools are not open tomorrow.

Domiciliary Care

If you, a family member or neighbour you are supporting receives domiciliary care, the provider will have been in touch to explain what arrangements are in place for your visits and their Priority Ordering System. Providers will visit the most vulnerable people first with the resources that they have. Please do call your provider direct if you have not heard from them, their number is on the front of the individual's care folder.
