Bald is beautiful

Taking the bold step of shaving his head for charity, Telford & Wrekin Councillor and Deputy Mayor Rajash Mehta hopes to raise £20,000 for two hospices at a fundraising event in Birmingham next Friday (November 24).

Entertainment for the almost sold out event at Digbeth-based Crown Banqueting, will include fire dancers, live music and an auction with the highlight of the evening being Councillor Mehta’s head shave, performed live on stage.

Councillor Mehta said: “I decided to shave my head because I love my hair and by losing something precious to me, I’m hoping people will understand how close to my heart the Severn Hospice at Telford and John Taylor Hospice in Birmingham are.

“Life has bestowed many blessings upon me and I have learnt to appreciate my life. I feel it is time for me to give something back, especially at this time of year. Most of us will be celebrating over Christmas and I want to make sure we think of others who might not be having such a good time and be thankful for what we have.

“By setting this target, I am reaching out to anyone who would like to help support these very worthy causes that support patients 24 hours a day and make a huge difference to people’s lives.”
