Voting closes on Friday for 'UK's Best Park' nominations
Telford Town Park has been nominated for the Fields in Trust ‘UK’s Best Park’ award as one of 31 West Midland’s green spaces and needs your vote to take the title by 5pm this Friday (November 3).
The park received the same award two years previously for its range of attractions, play features, sensory garden, mix of biodiversity, nature reserve as well as more formal gardens and the protected Queen Elizabeth II Field - a legacy of Her Majesty's Diamond Jubilee in 2012.

Councillor John Minor, Telford & Wrekin Council’s Cabinet Member for Leisure, Green Spaces and Parks said: “We are delighted and excited to be in the running again, just two years after we were voted UK’s Best Park.
“The staff and volunteers, including the Friends of Telford Town Park and the Telford Green Spaces Partnership work very hard all year round to keep the grounds to a very high standard.
“Approximately 750,000 people visit the park each year to enjoy its 150 hectares of green space and its special events including the summer ‘beach’, the Carnival of Giants and Spring into the Park. If you have had a great time at Telford Town Park, please vote for us.”
Across the UK nominations include large nature reserves and small community gardens, sports fields and playgrounds, each one a green space valued by the local community.
Fields in Trust is a national charity that operates throughout the UK to safeguard recreational spaces and campaign for better statutory protection for all kinds of outdoor sites.
Fields in Trust Chief Executive, Helen Griffiths, said: "The UK’s Best Park Award celebrates the parks and green spaces which are so vital to the communities that use them.
“Recognising the UK's Best Park is a way of revaluing our green spaces and recognising the benefits they bring; access to good quality recreational space can contribute to the physical and mental health of the local population and provide places for people to get together for community events."
Voting close at 5pm on Friday, November 3, visit www.fieldsintrust.org/bestpark to cast your vote and remember to verify your vote with your confirmation email.
