Want to save up to £650/year? Go to switch.telford.gov.uk
Savings up to £650/year* are possible with the Council’s new energy price comparison and switching website
Telford & Wrekin Council is making it even easier for residents to save money on their energy bills.
Switch Telford, the Council’s energy price comparison and switching website, has recorded more than 130 switches since its launch this spring, divided between gas and electricity.
The average saving per customer was over £200 while the most anyone has saved so far is £648/year*.
Plenty of price comparison sites claim to help users save money. switch.telford.gov.uk is totally independent and partners with a leading energy switching provider, which is Ofgem accredited.
For every switch made through switch.telford.gov.uk, the Council receives a commission. This helps to generate money for the Council that goes back into supporting and sustaining council services in the Borough.
Other benefits for users include:
• It takes only 5 minutes to switch;
• It lists the best possible deals in real time and gives independent advice on the cheapest tariff;
• Users can switch also if they are on pre-payment meter;
• The switch is simple, there is no need for users to contact their old supplier or change any direct debits as the energy site does this.
Councillor Lee Carter, Cabinet member for Finance, Commercial Services & Economic Development said: "switch.telford.gov.uk continues to help our residents make considerable savings, even up to £650/year.
“In addition to this, it generates funds for Council and this helps us invest in improving services.
“With colder weather coming, we want to encourage people to switch their gas and energy provider through our service and make considerable savings”.
The Energy Switching site builds on the Council’s work to help people from the Borough save money.
The Telford Loyalty Card (TLC) is another way the Council helps residents to save money and offers discounts at hundreds of borough businesses. Businesses can sign up for free and are encouraged to change their offers frequently.
