Rewards available for good recycling

As part of National Recycle Week Telford & Wrekin Council and recycling contractor Veolia are rewarding residents who use their recycling containers and Household Recycling Centres (HRCs) correctly.

Rewards available for good recycling

The Super Thumbs Up Prize Pot campaign offers residents the chance to be rewarded for recycling in the correct way. There are 100 £50 vouchers to be won - for a variety of Council services, including The Place, Leisure facilities, Property Services who offer a “handyman service”, Skills and Enterprise Hub and TWIGS garden services. The vouchers will be awarded between 25 September and 6 October at the kerbside and the Household Recycling Centres.

Councillor Angela McClements said “Recycling rates in the borough have increased during the last two years, so Telford & Wrekin Council and Veolia are saying thank you to residents. We also hope that it will encourage more people to recycle well, as there is the opportunity to win some great prizes.”

“In order to be in with a chance to win, residents need to present recycling containers correctly. As a reminder we put glass, plastics and tins in the purple container and paper and card in the blue bag or use the correct containers to recycle the items they dispose of at the HRCs.”

“Hopefully the initiative will lead to our recycling rates increasing even more going forward and I would like to thank our residents in advance for their positive response.”
