Wellington Civic & Leisure Centre unveils new development
Telford & Wrekin Council officially opens the new Wellington fitness development the weekend of the 9/10 September.
The development will enhance the existing facilities offered for aspirations members, including a new fitness class studio, cycling studio with a virtual screen and bigger fitness suite at Wellington Civic & Leisure Centre.
The new and improved fitness suite has been significantly extended, the existing machines have been replaced and 33 additional pieces of the latest equipment have been added.
The development has also seen a purpose built fitness studio, increasing the capacity of instructor led classes at the Centre.
Further enhancements include the Council’s first dedicated indoor cycling studio equipped with 19 new spin bikes, state of the art lighting and sound system and provision for both virtual and instructor led classes.
Work will shortly begin on phase two of the project which will see the current Health Suite refurbished including the installation of a new spa pool.
To coincide with the new development, Wellington Civic & Leisure Centre will be offering free guest passes for anyone wanting to try the new facility out. These can be booked directly with the Centre on 01952 382720.
Councillor John Minor, Cabinet Member for Leisure, Green Spaces and Parks, said: “The aspirations health and fitness offer continues to improve. I am very excited at the recent developments in Wellington and look forward to the members benefitting from this.
The team at Wellington Civic & Leisure Centre are thrilled to improve both the cardiovascular and strength offering to aspirations members. With more refurbishment works scheduled to begin this year for the health suite including the sauna, steam room and spa area – the Centre continues to progress.
We can expect an improved customer experience across the fitness suite, cycling studio and fitness studio. We would like to thank existing aspirations members for their patience during this time of development.
It speaks volumes about the quality of the facility that we have had to expand due to the high number of aspirations members.”
This latest development is part of a wider reconfiguration of Wellington Civic & Leisure Centre, which has included part of the library being converted into a community history centre.
