Annual electoral canvass under way
Local residents will receive their annual electoral register check-up form over the next two weeks.
Telford & Wrekin Council is asking residents in the borough to look out for their form in the post and to make sure that they respond as soon as possible.
The form ensures that the Council can keep the electoral register up to date and identify any residents who are not registered.
With the next local elections taking place in Telford and Wrekin in May 2019, this is an important opportunity for residents to make sure they will be able to take part.
Richard Partington, Managing Director of Telford & Wrekin Council, said:
“It’s important that residents respond as soon as possible so we can make sure we have the right details on the electoral register.
“Being on the Register ensures that you can have your say at future elections.
“There was a lot of interest in this year’s Parliamentary election and we were pleased with the increase in registration shortly before polling day.
“However, some people may not realise that they need to confirm their registration every year.
“Being in the Electoral Register also helps to ensure that you find it easier to open customer, savings or credit accounts.
“Residents simply need to check the form when it arrives and respond as soon as possible.”
