Mayor to put best foot forward to raise charity cash
Borough Mayor Councillor Stephen Reynolds is to put his best foot forward as he carries on fundraising for his chosen charity Severn Hospice.
Councillor Reynolds will be taking part in the Severn Stride event on Saturday 9th September – a sponsored walk/run taking in approximately 17 miles from the Severn Hospice in Bicton, Shrewsbury, to the Severn Hospice in Apley, Telford.
Each year the borough’s mayor chooses a charity to raise money for while they are in office. Councillor Reynolds volunteers at the Severn Hospice having done so since recovering from cancer and this makes the Hospice a natural choice for his charity.
Councillor Reynolds will be joined on the Severn Stride walk by deputy mayor Councillor Raj Mehta as well as other supporters.
“I’ve been delighted with the support that the people of Telford have shown me so far since I started fundraising,” said Councillor Reynolds,
“We had a hugely successful day of live bands organised by Distorted Tapes which they held at the Haygate pub in Wellington. This event raised £450 and now I am looking forward to a fantastic day on September 9th when I do the Severn Stride.”
