New purchasing system aimed at maintaining care standards
Providers of residential and nursing care for adults across Telford and Wrekin and beyond are being invited to join a new system aimed at maintaining high quality standards.
Telford & Wrekin Council is inviting all relevant providers to join the new Residential and Nursing Care Placement Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS).
The DPS is an open framework that will focus initially around care for the over 65s.
It can also cover aspects of Preventative Support, Hub and Outreach models, Extra Care Housing, Innovation in Day Care, Meal Provision and Assisted Bathing.
Councillor Paul Watling, Telford & Wrekin Council’s cabinet member for Children and Adults’ Early Help and Support, said: “Our cost improvement plan for adult social care focuses around the right help at the right time promoting independence.
“However we also recognise that sometimes specialist care is needed in a residential setting.
“We have worked closely with care providers and Shropshire Partners In Care to develop his framework with the aim that together we will maintain high quality standards and sufficient provision of care in and around the borough all year round.
“The council spends more than 30 per cent of its budget on adult social care, which equates to around £47m. It is therefore essential that we work with providers to ensure a quality and value for money service is provided to that the need it.”
