Town’s roundabouts help fund crucial services for the community
Businesses looking to increase their profiles within the borough, are being given a helping hand by a council-run scheme which aims to boost public awareness.
Bayfield Vehicle Hire’s Telford depot, has became the sponsor of Brockton Roundabout in Halesfield.
It’s just one of many businesses benefiting from Telford & Wrekin Council’s scheme offering sponsors a local and highly-visible presence on roundabouts in the borough.
Director of Bayfield Vehicle Hire, Simon Platt said: “Our motto is ‘Driven by Quality.’ It’s just as important to us, as it is to our Telford customers, and we pride ourselves on the friendliness and reliability of our service.
“There are massive, more corporate UK-wide rental firms out there but sometimes they simply can’t match the responsiveness of an independent company. We want to encourage people to ‘go local’ when it comes to competitively priced vehicle hire.”
Sponsors benefit from a sign containing their name, logo and a short message, positioned on an available roundabout(s) of their choice. The money helps the council fund crucial services for the community.
Bayfield’s decision to join Telford & Wrekin Council’s list of roundabout sponsors, comes as the company drives local advertising forward and looks for ways to support the borough. Around 170,000 local residents and around 3.6 million day trippers to the borough, make the roundabouts an ideal place for exclusive attention from audiences with no competition.
Simon added: “As the business has grown, we’ve been looking for additional ways to get our presence noticed in and around Telford. Our website and social media play a large part but we also recently distributed 20,000 leaflets door-to-door.
“Signing the roundabout sponsorship agreement is definitely a move that will help us raise our profile with lots of local residents and business people.”
Bayfield Vehicle Hire has undergone expansion recently with depots now in Shrewsbury, Chester, Colwyn Bay and Ely (Cambridgeshire) as well as Telford. The team is passionate about delivering a high quality, personable service at affordable prices, with most vehicles under 12 months old and no deposit required on short-term hire.
Open seven days a week, the company offers a range of car and van rental options, including European hire with daily rates from just £16.
Councillor Lee Carter, cabinet member for council finance and service delivery said: “The roundabout sponsorship scheme offers great exposure for local businesses in the borough and I’d encourage any that are interested to get in touch and find out more.”
A survey of 1,000 borough residents showed that 84 per cent recalled seeing a sponsorship sign on a local roundabout. Figures also reveal how satisfied businesses are with the scheme, as 85 per cent of existing sponsors would recommend the experience to a colleague or business partner.
Simon also said: “We are so pleased with our new sign and we’re confident the sponsorship will mean good things for us and the council.
“We have many commercial clients in Telford who regularly hire cars and vans from us. This is a great opportunity for them to put their company name out there and we will be recommending that they try the roundabout sponsorship scheme too.”
