Award Nomination for Telford & Wrekin Fostering Film
Telford & Wrekin Council’s Fostering Recruitment Team, together with 12 neighbouring fostering services, has been shortlisted in the 2017 UK Public Sector Communications Awards for the short film project ‘Giants’.
The project was a year in the making and saw the Council’s Fostering Recruitment Team work with 12 other councils in the West and East Midlands to develop, script and produce ‘Giants’, which encourages people to become foster carers.
The professionally made short film, which highlights the need for foster carers who can look after brothers and sisters together, has already been seen by more than 30,000 people.
“This is great news for Telford and Wrekin” said Shaun Davies, Leader of the Council. “By working with colleagues in other authorities, we have been able to produce a really high quality film that captures the importance of keeping siblings together at a fraction of the cost of undertaking such an ambitious project as an individual council. At the same time it has raised the profile of Telford & Wrekin and the benefits of fostering.”
‘The nomination is in the category of Partnership Engagement Initiative of the Year.
Giants’ can be seen on the Telford Fostering webpage www.telfordfostering.co.uk and on www.facebook.com/telfordfoster
