Community projects receive over £11,650 from community grant schemes

Telford & Wrekin Council alongside the waste and recycling contractor, Veolia, has awarded funding to a variety of projects happening in the borough as part of the EnviroGrant scheme and the Sports Funding scheme.

There were 17 community groups from across the borough who attended a presentation evening last night to receive their cheque.

A total of £11,650 for projects that benefit the local community orenvironment was presented by Councillor Angela McClements, Telford & Wrekin Council’s Cabinet Member for Transport,Customer & Neighbourhood Services and Steve Mitchell, Director Midlands West for Veolia.

The EnviroGrant funding scheme is part of the added value bought to the borough through Veolia’s contract with Telford & Wrekin Council.

Steve Mitchell said: “These groups work hard to make a positive difference in their communities, it’s inspiring to meet them and we are pleased to be able to support them as part of our work in the borough.”

Councillor Angela McClements said: “Local organisations can apply for a grant of up to £1000 for projects based in the borough of Telford and Wrekin.  The form is really easy to complete and Veolia and Telford & Wrekin Council want these funds to go to where they are needed the most. I am delighted to have met so many dedicated groups this evening who are making a real difference to their communities”.
