Join our march to save hospital services
The threat to A&E at the Princess Royal Hospital is now greater than ever.
Health bosses at Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital Trust (SaTH) are considering a plan to close the department in Telford overnight.
Telford & Wrekin Council is stepping up its campaign to save vital hospital services.
A march and rally is being organised for Sunday 23 April. Save the date. More details on this event will follow in due course.
The Council’s Cabinet will also hold an emergency meeting at 5pm on Thursday 6 April at Addenbrooke House, Ironmasters Way, Telford TF3 4NT solely to discuss the latest developments and the Council’s response to this.
An Extraordinary General Meeting of the Council will follow later in April on a Motion of ‘No Confidence’ in the SaTH board.
The Council is also looking at a range other steps to show support for and fight to keep services at the PRH.
Council Leader Shaun Davies said: “We have long been campaigning to retain the vital health services that our residents and the many Shropshire residents for whom the PRH is their hospital, deserve.
“We have challenged over and over again how health bosses have gone about making their decisions over the future of hospital services. They have tried to close public services in ways we challenged on grounds of fairness and legality.
This latest plan for overnight closure of the Princess Royal Hospital’s A&E is downgrading this hospital by the back door. This A&E is the busier of the two in Shropshire.
“We must not let this happen. I urge every part of the community that the PRH serves to come together to show that we will not stand for this.. Together we will fight for the PRH.”
