Oakengates Theatre @ The Place is to host two powerful performances on issues of race and prejudice:
Fred is a two feet tall cloth puppet that fights prejudice every day. He just wants to be a regular guy, part of the real world, to get a job and meet a girl, but when threatened with losing his PLA (Puppetry Living Allowance), Fred’s life begins to spiral out of his control. This show, which contains strong language and puppet nudity, sold out at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2016 and has been highly acclaimed by theatre critics:

Produced and presented by the charity ‘Gazebo Theatre in Education Company’ this powerful play is an exploration of racism and migration. Two strangers find themselves in a room of suitcases, books and stories which take them on a journey of discovery, reflection and tragedy, and bring the events of hundreds of years gone before bang up to date.
