Gritters geared up for a busy winter
During the autumn and winter months, Telford & Wrekin Council will be working hard to keep you safe during any bad weather.
Our gritters were out for the first time last Saturday night (5 Nov) and, with sub-zero temperatures expected overnight tonight, they will hit the borough’s roads again from 7pm.
Steve Hollins, Group Manager, Engineering Services at Telford & Wrekin Council said: “We treat more than 400 kilometres of roads across the borough and we routinely grit the A and & roads, access roads for emergency services, schools, industrial estates, villages and a number of main bus routes. We have a full stock of salt and we are fully prepared for the winter ahead.
“But you can help us too over the coming months. Why not become a volunteer Neighbourhood Snow Warden? We will give you the rocksalt and equipment and advise you on how to clear snow and ice safely and how to spread the salt effectively.”
