This year’s provisional results will be the first set to be published using the government’s new system which analyses the proportion of students who have made progress across a range of 8 GCSE subjects.

It is therefore not possible to compare this with last year’s results as a different performance measure is being used.

At Hadley Learning Community, which was judged to be in  the top 100 schools in the country last year in terms of progress, the  percentage of students achieving the Progress 8 and the percentage of students achieving a Grade C or better in five subjects was 70%

At Madeley Academy, 74% of students achieved Grade C or better in five subjects. Holy Trinity Academy saw 71% of students achieving Grace C or better in five subjects.

The provisional results so far released show that the proportion of students who attained a GCSE passes in English  at Grade C or better was 58.7% while for mathematics the figure was 59.9 %.

Councillor Gilly Reynolds, cabinet member for Education, Employment and Skills, said: “I would like to congratulate all the students on their achievements and thank everyone connected with the schools for their hard work.”
