Council steps in to help GKN staff facing redundancy
Telford & Wrekin Council has offered its support to those facing redundancy at GKN in Telford.

The company has confirmed more than 200 job losses at its works in Hadley Castle following the end of a contract to build chassis for Jaguar Land Rover.
Councillor Gilly Reynolds, cabinet member for Education, Employment and Regeneration said: “We have already been in contact with GKN to offer our services to those who face losing their jobs.
“Our National Careers Service will try to match the skills of those facing redundancies to current vacancies, or help them look for a new job or career with practical help given in applying for positions. We can also offer a mentor from our ‘Job Box’ project. The mentor will personally help them find and get a new job.”
“In addition, through its ‘Enterprise Telford’ campaign to attract new investment into the borough, the Council is currently dealing with enquiries from a number of potential new investors, including from the automotive sector. We will be doing everything possible to secure these investments for Telford and will ensure that if successful, links are made between new investors and those affected by redundancies at GKN”.
