Telford & Wrekin Council has stepped in to help staff of the retailer BHS find new jobs.

Help on offer for BHS staff to find new jobs
Earlier this month, administrators announced plans to liquidate the chain which has a store in Telford Shopping Centre.

Staff at the store who are facing redundancy will this week have the opportunity to attend support sessions being run by the Council’s National Careers Team with the Government’s Department for Work and Pensions.

Councillor Gilly Reynolds, Cabinet Member for Education, Employment and Regeneration said: “The sessions will give those staff affected all the help they need to find new job opportunities. This will include, advice on changing career and the opportunities currently available, writing and updating CVs, identifying skills and preparing for interviews. It is important that we give those staff facing redundancy all the help we can as quickly as we can to keep them in employment.”

Sarah Spilsbury, Employment Advisor with the Department for Work and Pensions said: “I delivered a presentation to twenty members of staff on Tuesday (14 June) which they found to be invaluable. We will be visiting the store again on Friday (17 June) to do the same.”
