Launch of Work Well Telford to help reduce workplace sickness
Telford & Wrekin Council is launching a new website to help company bosses in the borough tackle absenteeism in the workplace.

Work Well Telford is a way for companies to connect with a range of partners who can provide practical help to reduce instances of employees being off work.
Registering on the website www.workwelltelford.co.uk also goves organisations access to lots of information and advice on improving workplace wellbeing.
Sickness absence costs the economy of the borough of Telford and Wrekin £37.75m a year, according to the BUPA Sickness Absence Calculator.
Bosses across the borough are being encouraged to take positive steps to improve the wellbeing of their workforce – with the added bonus of a potential increase in productivity.
Partners that Work Well Telford helps companies connect to include the Shropshire Wildlife Trust, which runs the Green Heroes project on behalf of the council.
Green Heroes enables volunteers from the workplace to work on conservation management projects, increasing their sense of worth and wellbeing and consequently reducing their absenteeism.
Councillor Richard Overton, Telford & Wrekin Council’s cabinet member for Public Health, said: “This is an excellent initiative that has the aim of proving tangible benefits for everyone.
“It gives managers access to initiatives that staff can take part in to improve their sense of self worth and well-being which has a positive impact on their health, with a consequent reduction in sickness and increase in productivity.
“I welcome the launch of Work Well Telford and look forward to learning how companies in the borough have benefited.”
Work Well Telford will be launched on Friday 17 June at 8am. The location for the launch on google maps is here: http://tinyurl.com/z8j6nvq
