One week to go until Drive in Movie returns to Telford

With a week to go, film fans are being invited to get their tickets now to ensure they don’t miss out when the Drive in Movie returns to Telford next Monday (30 MAY).

One week to go until Drive in Movie returns to Telford

Telford & Wrekin Council and Telford Shopping Centre will host three popular family movies at the event: family friendly film Despicable Me 2 will be shown from 2pm, ‘80s classic Dirty Dancing will be on screen from 5.30pm and the recently released Star Wars: The Force Awakens film will finish off the evening, from 8.30pm.

Film fans looking for something different to do for the Bank Holiday will be able to relax in the comfort of their own car and enjoy a classic movie as Telford Shopping Centre’s Red Oak car park (by McDonalds) is transformed into a drive in cinema.

Plus, the weather forecast for next Monday in Telford is 17 degrees and light cloud – perfect for watching a drive in movie!

The selection of films means that there will be something for everyone, making it a great opportunity for people of all ages to enjoy the drive in movie experience.

To listen to the film viewers tune the car radio in to hear all the action through their car speakers.

There will be food and drink available to purchase on the day or why not bring along a picnic and a flask to enjoy in the car.

Wherever cars are parked they will all be sure of a great view of the screen. Each car will be parked according to size to maximize the view for all and whether you fill (to their legal allowance) a two-seater sports car or a seven seater MPV the price remains the same.

Councillor Liz Clare, cabinet member for Leisure Services and Culture, said: “We’re really excited that we’re able to bring back the Drive in Movie experience that proved so popular.

“Two years ago film fans turned out in their hundreds to enjoy a selection of films and we’re excited to be able to offer this experience again.”

Tracy Hadley, Marketing and Events Manager at Telford Shopping Centre added “We are extremely pleased to be hosting this family event and to be working in partnership with Telford & Wrekin Council.”

Tickets can be booked online at www.theplacetelford.com, by calling the Box Office on 01952 382382, or in person from the Customer Service Desks in Wrekin Square and Shopmobility in Telford Shopping Centre, or by visiting the Box Office at The Place.

Tickets are £20 per car (plus £2 admin fee) per film, so whether it’s a romantic evening for two or a fun filled car full of four or more, the price remains the same.
