A GIANT of a Carnival
Following a programme of successful events in the Town Park, and back by popular demand, the Carnival of Giants is returning.

With support funding from Arts Council England, 2016s carnival will be a colossal - bigger, better and even more spectacular. An event for the whole of the borough to enjoy.
Sponsored by Telford Shopping Centre this free family cultural event will be held in Telford Town Park’s QEII Arena, where an array of magnificent GIANT creatures, some who have been extinct for many years, are set to come alive on Saturday 16 July.
Themed this year around dinosaurs, children and adults alike are sure to be awestruck by the vast size and scale of the prehistoric creatures who will be taking over the park for the day.
Taking place between 11am – 4pm, the highlight of the day will be a GIANT parade at 2pm featuring 500 participants from the local community.
Renowned International artistic companies Festive Road and Closer Act will be leading the parade with an astonishing array of interactive dino-tastic dinosaurs. Creatures will come to life in a way never before seen.
The Liverpool Lantern Company will once again be working with the Creative Arts Team to create all the prehistoric paraphernalia that will be carried in the parade.
The carnival procession will be joined by one of the best entertaining festival street bands “Skiband”, who with their fantastic musical talent will provide a traditional carnival atmoshphere.
The fun doesn’t stop there. As well as seeing the amazing parade, there’s so much more to experience.
The world class National History Museum will be bringing their own prehistoric creatures and offering a unique opportunity to take part in their T-Rex sand dig for little hands to get a proper feel for how fossilised dinosaurs of EPIC proportions are found.
Our regular community stage spot with local dance, music and performances will keep the carnival vibe going all day.
The GIANT deckchair will be back this year, and there will be a dressing up box, a craft marquee, climbing wall, sports , food stalls, mini fair, carnival games and more.
Councillor Liz Clare, cabinet member for Leisure Services and Culture, said: “I’m thrilled that we’re able to bring Carnival of Giants back for a second year. Last year really captured the imagination of all those who came along, regardless of age, and we’re hoping to do that again this year.
“The event is free to attend, has lots going on and is taking place in the best park in the UK, what more excuse do you need to come along and soak up the carnival atmosphere of the day and enjoy the spectacular parade that will fill Telford Town Park with breathtaking spectacles, colour and music.”
