Musical Theatre tribute for Pat Brown
Oakengates Theatre @ The Place are hosting a very special tribute on Saturday 21 May to Pat Brown, the Wardrobe Mistress for pantomimes at the theatre for 15 years.
The showcase event is set to honour and remember this well respected lady who loved dance and musical theatre and very much thought of the Oakengates Theatre as her second home.
Pat also supported the annual Youth Summer Project run by Telford & Wrekin Council, showing her commitment to helping young children and adults perform. Her attention to detail was second to none, as was her dedication, love and encouragement for all those she worked with.
The show will include many performers from the area that Pat worked with and helped throughout their journey and will showcase dance, ballet, contemporary, tap, modern, and singing of some of Pat’s favourites musical numbers.
Christopher Brown, Pat’s son, said: “I will be launching a Scholarship Award at the show to create a legacy for my mum. The Scholarship Award will be given annually to contribute a year’s tuition at a dance/stage school for a child who loves performing.
“I want to do this to enable my mum’s name to live on. She would be so proud to be associated with a legacy that helps a young performer grow in their love of performing arts.
“the funding will be raised through events throughout the year and an application process will be arranged for young children from the age of four to apply.
Debbie King, Theatre Manager, added: “I’d like to thank all the performers, dance schools and principles that have freely given up their time to support this wonderful musical tribute to remember ‘Our Pat’.
“We hope lots of you will join us to enjoy the evening that is set to be a celebration of the Pat and the amazing impact she had on everyone who was lucky enough to meet her over the years.”
