Beacon celebrates Queen's 90th birthday
Telford & Wrekin Council joined other local authorities across the UK in lighting a symbolic beacon to mark HM Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday.
The Abraham Darby Academy Showband provided the music for the evening's event, including playing the national anthem, God Save The Queen, and Happy Birthday. Invited guests included Wing Commander Darren Thorley from RAF Cosford, Colonel Richard Mayberry, Deputy Commander of 11th Signal & West Midlands Brigade, Telford MP Lucy Allan and members of Telford & Wrekin Council’s cabinet. Council leader Councillor Kuldip Sahota lit the symbolic beacon overlooking Southwater lake.
